Rain Garden Regulations

Rain Garden Regulations

Many local government authorities now have Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) Policies for new developments including rain garden regulations. These WSUD policies are designed to promote re-use of stormwater, reduce the effect of heavy stormwater flow and reduce the entry of pollutants into stormwater run-off.

What is a Rain Garden?

A rain garden is a garden bed or planter that receives water from large run-off areas such as roofs and driveways. The stormwater is absorbed into the soil with excess water flowing out to the drainage system. The soil filters pollutants from the water and the plants absorb the nutrients.

Rain Garden Fabrication

Viking Plastics is a specialist in the manufacture of rain gardens, wicking beds, planter boxes and liners – all products that comply with WSUD policies. If you are involved in a new development and need to comply with rain garden regulations, Viking Plastics will work with you to custom fabricate your design.

Viking uses an innovative 50mm plastic construction panel, Paneltim, to manufacture our rain gardens and planters. The cross-rib cell structure of the panels provides superior strength and rigidity.  This material can also be clad in a range of options if so desired.
