Hinged Lid Grease Trap
The hinged lid grease trap is a Viking Plastics’ innovation.
Today Viking Plastic’s expertise was called upon to inspect a cafe refurbishment in Oakleigh with a requirement for a 3000 litre grease trap. The job is challenging due to the lack of installation space except for a cellar only accessible via a manhole ladder.
Every restaurant or cafe serving any type of greasy food or baked goodies (baked on premises) must have a grease trap. The grease trap reduces the risk of waste blocking sewer pipes.
Viking Plastics is working with both the plumber and owner to design a grease trap that can be lowered into the cellar via a custom cut penetration into the floor. The tank will be accessed via two hinged traps doors installed into the floor of the cafe.
The hinged lids have gas struts to support the lid in the open position. Two lockable toggle clamps ensure an air-tight seal when closed.
