Viking Plastics Engineering recently showcased its expertise with the creation of a custom trade waste pump tank for the iconic Queen Victoria Market. Design
The trade waste pump tank at the Queen Victoria Market has been custom-built to fit perfectly inside a concrete pit, with a self-supporting slab poured over the top of the Paneltim© structure. The tank’s external dimensions measure 5500mm in length, 1900mm in width, and 2020mm in height, offering a substantial capacity of 18,000 litres. This large capacity ensures that all wastewater, including toilet waste and grease trap runoff from the market, can be efficiently collected and pumped to the sewer system.
The design also features practical access points. The tank has square gatic-style concrete infill lid covers for easy access to the tank, allowing for waste removal and maintenance. Additionally, there is a round screw-in lid over the pump well section to allow for smooth pumping operations. The setup includes two large pumps that work together to transfer the collected waste to the sewer system. This ensures the smooth operation of the market without disruption to daily activities.
